Cinnamon Pizza

Cinnamon pizza is a fun dessert pizza and is easier to make than traditional, homemade cinnamon rolls. It is fun to eat and kids really love this one. For an easy dessert, try this cinnamon treat using frozen bread dough. I usually prefer to make my own pizza dough, but frozen dough makes these cinnamon strips light and fluffy and couldn't be easier.

Ingredients:

  • 1 log of frozen bread dough
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Icing
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1-2  tablespoons milk
Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 350˚F degrees.
  2. Thaw your frozen dough log wrapped in plastic wrap sprayed with cooking spray and set in the refrigerator the night before.
  3. The next morning your frozen dough will be thawed but not risen. Allow to rise in an oil coated bowl and covered with plastic wrap for 2 to 3 hours to rise before cooking.
  4. Once your dough has finished rising, roll it out into a large rectangle on a floured surface until the dough is 1/4 inch thick. I like to save time by rolling the dough directly on a large flat, rectangle baking sheet sprayed with cooking spray.
  5. Melt the butter and brush over the dough.
  6. In a small cup combine the sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle the mixture evenly over the dough.
  7. Cut the rectangle in half down the middle, then slice through lengthwise to make 1 inch slices. You can use your pizza cutter for this to make it easier.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes - pizza dough should be cooked through but not too brown.
  9. While your pizza is baking, prepare the icing. Mix the sugar, vanilla and 1 tablespoon of milk together in a bowl. Add more milk slowly if needed to reach a thin consistency.
  10. When pizza is done, drizzle the icing over the baked strips or dip the pizza strips into the icing. They are best when eaten still warm.
