Easy Tiramisu

Try this Easy Tiramisu recipes when you don't have the time to make the more complicted, traditional version.

The store bought cake and custard with cut your preparation time drastically. Just put it together and chill for a few hours, and you will have a delicious dessert that will please any crowd.

Ingredients:

  • 16 oz mascarpone
  • 1 cup custard – any kind you like or use vanilla pudding
  • 1 Pound cake
  • ¾ cup espresso or very strong brewed coffee
  • ½ oz Kaluha
  • sifted cocoa powder
  • 1 oz chocolate bar for garnish
  • Directions: Take the mascarpone cheese out of the refrigerator to bring it to room temperature.

Brew the espresso or coffee and cut the pound cake into strips about the size of ladyfingers. Add the Kaluha to the coffee and let cool.

Put the mascarpone in a mixing bowl and beat with a mixer just until it is light and airy. With a large spoon or spatula, fold in the custard into the mascarpone until it is incorporated.

Spoon a little of the mascarpone custard into the bottom of your serving dish. Dip the pound cake strips quickly into the espresso – just enough for the cake to absorb some liquid but be careful because it can disintegrate quickly. Place the cake strip on top of the mascarpone in your serving dish. Once you have one layer of cake finished, cover the cake strips with some of the mascarpone custard and repeat the cake layering process on top. Finish with the remaining custard on top of the custard and sprinkle with cocoa powder. Use a sifter or strainer to be sure the cocoa powder come out fine and without clumps. Use a potato peeler to peel curls of chocolate from your chocolate bar for a garnish before serving.

Place the tiramisu into your refrigerator and chill for a few hours before serving. This is also a great dessert for entertaining, not only because it will be a hit, but it can easily be made the night before.
