Food Processor Herbed Pizza Dough

Use your food processor to make the prep time for this dough quicker and the clean up easier.

Yield: Two 12” pizzas

Total Time: 1 hour, 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 package dry active yeast
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cups or more of unbleached, all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary, oregano or other herbs
  • Combine water and sugar in a food processor. Sprinkle yeast over the water and let stand until foamy, about 10 minutes. Add oil, 3 cups flour and salt. Process until dough comes together, about 1 minute.

Turn dough out onto floured surface and sprinkle with the fresh herbs. Knead dough until it is smooth and elastic, adding flour as needed if dough is sticky, for about 5 minutes. Spread olive oil lightly in a large bowl, add dough and turn to coat with oil. Cover bowl with plastic, then a towel. Let dough stand at room temperature until dough doubles in size – about 1 hour.

Push 2 fingers into the dough. If the depressions remain, the dough is ready. Punch down the dough and knead for about 2 minutes until smooth. You can knead the dough in the bowl if it is large enough. Divide dough and prepare pizzas.

    Makes two 12inch pizzas.
