Italian Cookbooks

There are many Italian cookbooks around today. Some are more authentic and traditional dishes and others are geared towards Italian-American dishes and other adaptations to the original recipes. If you go to your local bookstore or shop online, it can be a bit overwhelming because there are just so many cookbooks today to choose from. I have purchased a few through the years and the following is a review of some of the popular cookbooks today from famous chefs that I have found to be worth the money.

"Lidia's Italian-American" by Lidia Matticchio Bastianich."

You just can't go wrong with any cookbook written by Lidia. Lidia has had her own cooking show on TV for years so there aren't many people who haven't heard of her yet. This cookbook follows her show and it is excellent. Her book has easy to follow instructions and great pictures. Lidia shares her personal stories and old photos of her in Italy. This book includes plenty of food facts, history and preparation instructions. Great book for less experienced cooks and anyone interested in learning Italian cooking.

"Everyday Italian" by Giada Pamela De Laurentiis.

Giada is another one of my favorite chefs. She was born in Rome but grew up in California and she is great at making italian cooking easy and in a way that really appeals to Americans.

"Molto Italiano: 327 Simple Italian Recipes to Cook at Home" by Mario Malto.

If you watch any cooking shows you will have seen Mario Malto. He is a great chef and his cookbooks have many wonderful recipes. Some of his books are a little hard for inexperienced cooks, but this one is pretty good.
